Quinta da Ribeirinha

The interesting setting of a former olive oil press is the entrance door to this farm operation in Santarem. The farmstead is surrounded by panoramic hillside vineyards growing the red varieties of Periquita, Trincadeira Preta and Cabernet Sauvignon and the whites of Fernao Pires and Trincadeira das Pratas.

The sheer scale on which this agricultural operation was conceived at the end of the 19th century is evident from the huge buildings surrounding the central yard, the size of the distilling facilities and the number and volume of the wooden barrels. There are 65 hectares of vines planted in modern soils. The grape varieties grown include the whites Fernao Pires, Talia and Boal Alicante and the red Periquita.
